How we vet a crew
"Vetted" is the most abused word in home services, so here is exactly what ours means. If a crew fails any of this, they do not get matched, no matter how good their logo is.
Current liability insurance, confirmed with documentation before the first match. Ladder work on your house by an uninsured stranger is your risk, not theirs. We remove that possibility up front.
We read the reviews, across platforms, looking for the patterns that matter: repeat complaints about upsells, no-shows, or damage. A wall of five-star reviews posted in the same week reads exactly like what it is, and it fails.
Hand scooping, downspout flushing, debris hauled. Crews that run the blower-only special do not stay in the network. We check by asking homeowners we have matched how it actually went.
This is the one we are pickiest about, because it is the reason this site exists. A crew that turns a cleaning visit into a fear-based fascia pitch is removed on the first verified complaint. Honest findings, honestly explained, are welcome. Theater is not.
In California, jobs of $500 or more require a CSLB contractor license. Crews we match for work at that level carry one, and you can verify any license number yourself at cslb.ca.gov in about a minute.
Sacramento-area crews serving Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, Citrus Heights, Carmichael, and Fair Oaks. No national call centers reselling your request three times.
And the disclosure, in plain English
Gutter Sense is free for homeowners. We may be compensated by the pros we match you with (that is the FTC §255 disclosure in our footer, stated like a human). What we are never paid for: rankings, inflated urgency, or steering you toward work you do not need. The advice stays honest because the advice is the product.
